Harp in the NMM

harp

Dated to the 16th century

Kept at the National Music Museum, Vermillion, USA

"Baroque Italian" design;
30 strings, 141.8cm high.

This instrument looks to me like a transitional type from 'gothic' to 'baroque', with its higher frame and tapering soundbox. The gut strings are not fitted with buzzing bray pins (although these could have been removed in the past)
