These web pages are a companion for my new book, Progressive Lessons for Early Gaelic Harp. Click here to order your copy.

Click here for information about the extant old harps.

Click here for explanations and pronounciation of the old Gaelic names for the parts of the harp:
Com (soundbox)
Corr (neck)
Lamhcrann (forepillar)
Ursnaidhm (pins or pegs or windings)
Crú na d-teud (string shoes)

Click here for further information about the Historical Harp Society of Ireland Student early Irish harps. HHSI student instruments are available for rent in Scotland and Ireland. I particularly recommend the HHSI Student Trinity for people interested in the earlier and medieval repertory, or the HHSI Student Downhill for those interested in the later baroque and 18th century music.

Those with larger budgets may wish to investigate the work of makers such as David Kortier or Davy Patton.
