Davy Patton harp no.2: willow Trinity.

This harp was made by Davy Patton in 2010. It is based on the Trinity College harp, but somewhat simplified. I believe it is numbered #2.

This harp has a carved one-piece willow soundbox with burned decoration. The neck also has the burned lines and circles; the pillar is much simpler with only a few sketchy decorative details. I believe the neck and pillar are also both willow. I think the harp has the old “student” setup with 9 silver bass strings and 20 brass treble strings: 29 in total, going down to G an octave and a half below middle c, and including na comhluighe or the sister strings at g.

This harp measures 84cm x 45cm x 29.5cm. It comes in a red/maroon Cronkhite case. It has had two previous owners, one from new to 2016, and one from 2016 to now. The harp is currently in Boston, USA, but can easily be taken to New York. I believe this is the only Davy Patton harp in the USA.
