Published in 1987 as 'The Historical Harpsichord Volume Two', this technical study analyses and discusses samples of historical wire extracted from inside old harpsichords. It includes discussion of historical sources about wire making, as well as highly technical analysis of alloy composition, crystalline structure, work hardening, wire drawing, tone quality etc. Though based firmly on harpsichords it is the only book I know of dealing with historical music wire and so is of great value to anyone researching historical Gaelic harp stringing technology.
