John Lorne Campbell
Songs Remembered in Exile
1990, revised edition Birlinn 1999
J.L Campbell was a pioneer of audio recording of traditional singers, and this book represents his work in the field in Nova Scotia in the 1930s, recording old Scottish Gaelic songs that had been preserved by emigrants from the West of Scotland who moved to Canada. The book includes transcriptions of the tunes, texts, and translations, as well as biographies and photographs of the singers and a lot of background information as well. Highly recommended.
