Chad McAnally Of Bards and Beggars NP6129, 2011 This CD is an interesting selection of traditional and original solo music for Gaelic harp. Performed on big 18th-century style instruments made by Jay Witcher and by Chad himself, the music is confident, nicely arranged and well-played. One song is included, sung in Scottish Gaelic by Shawn McBurnie. Of especial note is the 10-minute performance of Brian Boru's March, following the description of Patrick Byrne’s 19th century performance. £13 + £1.80 (UK only - select for overseas postage) £4.00 (Airmail within Europe) £5.00 (Airmail outside Europe)
Chad McAnally and Shawn McBurnie Blackbird from the Willow Sings NP2292, 2011 Chad is a harp maker and performer from Minnesota, a student of Ann Heymann and National Scottish Harp Champion of America in 2009. For this new CD, he has collaborated with the traditional singer Shawn McBurnie in a programme of traditional and contemporary songs with Gaelic harp accompaniment. The singing is very straight and close-up, and the harp playing is very clean and competent with some great instrumental atmospheres being drawn out of the harp. "Continuing the storied tradition of song and Gaelic harp". £13 + £1.80 (UK only - select for overseas postage) £4.00 (Airmail within Europe) £5.00 (Airmail outside Europe)
